Finding the Hidden Entrance in Ashina Castle
To begin your journey toward the mountain, you must first navigate through the sprawling grounds of Ashina Castle. Head toward the old bridge where a devout grandmother can be seen praying overlooking the deep moat below. Jump across this gap and proceed through the gate to find the entrance to the Abandoned Dungeon zone.
Once inside the damp caverns, follow the linear path past the eerie Underground Waterway until you reach a large elevator mechanism. Activating this device carries you up into the mountains, safely delivering you to the Senpou Temple Entrance Idol. This serves as your primary checkpoint before tackling the treacherous mountain paths ahead.
Navigating the Main Temple Grounds and Shugendo
Stepping out of the elevator room reveals a gorgeous autumnal forest filled with patrolling monks who use rapid martial arts. Follow the main dirt path up the mountain, clearing out enemies inside the multi-story buildings until you exit toward the craggy cliffs. This open area transitions into the Shugendo region, which is characterized by narrow wooden walkways built along vertical rock faces.
Carefully grapple across the mountain gaps while avoiding volatile enemies that throw explosive projectiles from afar. Exploring these side cliffs thoroughly allows you to discover hidden merchant locations and unique quest items. Following the upper cliff paths eventually brings you to a covered bridge where a formidable armored sub-boss blocks further progression.
Reaching the Main Hall and Inner Sanctum
After overcoming the heavy defenses on the bridge, you will arrive at the sprawling complex known as the Main Hall. This massive building houses numerous monks deep in meditation alongside several unique collectibles hidden behind large golden statues. Make sure to activate the central Sculptor's Idol inside this hall to secure your progress within the heart of the temple.
Depending on your current story progression, interacting with the altar table in this room grants access to a mystical realm. Overcoming the unique puzzle boss encounter within that realm finally opens the doorway to the Inner Sanctum. Here, you can interact with the Divine Child of Rejuvenation to obtain the legendary Mortal Blade weapon.
